Grotto Testimonials

“As always a wonderful evening with Nutmeg and friends at Enys. This is our third year of visiting and we have not yet been disappointed. Each year the team add a little more and we enjoyed the added light trail this year. Mrs Claus was fab and kept everyone entertained. And, don’t tell anyone, but this is where the REAL Father Christmas hangs out. He is fantastic! Thank you all!”

“A Truly Magical Christmas Experience!
We had the wonderful visit this Christmas — pure magic from start to finish! The children were completely captivated. The suspense when knocking on each door to go through the house, the characters and indoor snow was pure wonder. Story time with a lovely Santa was absolutely beautiful. As well as the gift which we’ll be able to enjoy for years to come. Highly recommend for any family wanting to create lovely Christmas memories together. Many thanks”

“Thank you so much for such a beautiful afternoon, it was truly magical and very very special indeed! Clearly a lot of thought has gone into it all and it was so appreciated by my little family.

P.s I recommend bringing tissues - I wept through the whole thing as it was so beautiful and wholesome and special! After our time there, no one can tell me that magic isn't real”

“The messages for the children to read & the naturally made lights rather than plastic. The staff were AMAZING. Our kids had positive and meaningful interactions with each of the ‘animals’ who took the time to talk to them, ask them questions & make the event special for them. My kids were hugging staff as they went around which just shows how they felt safe and cared for.”

“Everything from the greeting at the door, to Father Christmas story telling. The staff were incredible, and the group size was just perfect!”

What is the donation for?

Every year, Father Christmas at Enys team host a FREE tree planting day.  Since year one – we have been collecting native tree seeds ( oak, Chestnut and pine) and we have been growing them into saplings. We have partnered with the wonderful folk at Sailors Creek CIC which is where we are planting these saplings – to grow into a woodland – named “Christmas woods”.

As this is a Free event – we have always collected a donation to pay for the equipment  to plang the trees and to pay to help clear the overgrown land to allow for tree planting.

This year 2026 – we have decided to work with a second organisationa and collect on their behalf too.

2026 – chosen charity is the FLICKA donkey sanctuary.

50% of all donations raised will go towards FLICKA

50% will go towards the Tree planting programme we have.

Meaning 100% of Your donation will go towards helping nature.

The Donation is optional. You can set this to any amount, including £0 if you wish. Simply click the donation to change the amount.

I’m an adult and want to receive a gift from Father Christmas, is this allowed?

If an adult wants to receive a gift either for themselves or on behalf of a baby, they must buy the “Adult – Receives gift ticket”. This is the same cost of the child ticket but we know an adult is meeting Father Christmas – not a child.

Can I bring my dog to visit Father Christmas?

  • No Dogs inside the Grotto – With exception of assistance dogs. This is because not every child is a dog lover.
  • Well behaved Dogs on short leads are welcome to join the lantern trail.  Please clean up after your dog and use the bins provided around the trail.

Is there s booking fee for tickets?

  • Kinda. The booking fee is now included in the cost of the ticket – rather than being shown as an add on fee. Making this clearer to see what the ticket price is.

  • Please arrive at the car park entrance at least 20 minutes prior to ticketed Grotto Start time – to ensure you have enough time to collect your tickets, visit the toilets at the Stable block, purchase any snacks and walk to the house.
  • The doors open promptly – we do our best to accommodate latecomers – If you are more than 10 minutes late you will miss a significant chunk of the experience and if more than 20 mins late you will be denied entry. If this happens we will do our best to accommodate you in a later session – however this is subject to availability and may not be possible. Please be on time.

If I book the combined experience, should we walk the trail before or after the Father Christmas experience inside the house?

  • We recommend you walk the trail After you have visited Father Christmas inside. This is for a couple of reasons
  • 1: it keeps the mud outside:)
  • 2: its important that you are not late for the start of the Grotto experience. We don’t want you getting distracted in the gardens and ending up late for the grotto.
  • However – If you wish to walk the trail before your Father Experience , we recommend you arriving 35 mins before your Grotto start time to give you enough time to walk the trail beforehand.

How will Father Christmas know the name of my child?

  • The Fox office helpers will ask you to confirm the names of the children / adults to receive a gift from Father Christmas.
  • If the name is unique or with a specific spelling – please make sure you make the Fox Office aware and confirm the name before you go into the grotto.

How long does the experience last.

  • On average families spend 1.5 hours At Enys – when they have a combined experience ticket.
  • Due to limited Car park capacity 1.5 hours is the upper end of how long you can park in the car park for.

How many times can I walk the trail?

  • You are welcome to walk the trail as many times as you like on the day of entry for your single entry Lantern Trail Ticket. You will exchange your ticket for a wrist stamp at the entrance to the Light Trail – which acts as your re entry to do the Trail if you wish to walk it multiple times on the same day. Please note: Once you leave the Car park  you will not be allowed Re – Entry. – When walking the trail multiple times– please be aware of first time Lantern Trail visitors alongside yourself. Please do not ruin any surprises.:)
  • Please stick to the designated paths of the lantern trail. Enys is a small family run estate and improvements to paths are made year on year. The path chosen is the safest route during the winter period. Please do NOT go off on your own in the gardens as there may be unmarked hazards which are not visible in the dark.

What are the lanterns made of?

  • Lanterns are hand made by a team of two designer makers. They are made of Willow and paper.
  • Please DO NOT touch any of the lanterns and installations. They are all hand made with love and have taken months to create. Whilst being robust to the elements they do not take kindly to being touched, prodded, or sat on. Please respect the months of work that have gone into producing this trail and enjoy the experience with your eyes and ears only.
